Case Study #4: Event Promotion

Securing Sponsors for a Worldwide Event

In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, 100 Entrepreneurs’ Organization Chapters representing 7300 members from 42 countries were coming together on November 19, 2009 in an effort to help drive economic growth, share their entrepreneurial wisdom and establish connections. Organizers from the local San Francisco chapter needed to successfully market the regional event among target groups and secure sponsorships in a down economy. From the time they hired MCM, this event had a quick 2-month turnaround time—which added to the challenge.

Sponsorship

MCM needed to act fast, especially since requests were being made in Q4 of 2009 and many companies were already setting their 2010 budgets. MCM ensured success by reaching out through multiple channels:

  • worked with local EO Chairs to ID target sponsorship categories
  • contacted personal business network
  • attended other business conferences and events
  • leveraged the organization’s existing relationships
  • sourced prospective event sponsors and chapter members
  • wrote the sponsorship package, letters to members and post awards applications

Sponsorship goals were met

MCM’s promotion increased sponsorship procurement to the delight of EO.
